Papers, Please has won the BAFTA Game Awards in Strategy & Simulation, and recently won a Peabody for digital storytelling. Lucas Popes independent title was a monumental hit, eventually going on to receive two awards from the 2014 Game Developers Choice Awards, one for Innovation, and the other for Best Downloadable Game.

Papers, Please is an action-puzzle simulator video game created by independent video game developer Lucas Pope, developed and published by his production company, 3909 LLC. Indie video game developer Lucas Popes. Thankfully, Lucas Pope recently revealed that he will bring Papers to Android and iOS on August 5, which is today, so as promised, Papers, Please is finally out in the Google Play Store. Indie game developer Lucas Pope plans on continuing support for Papers, Please and its ports, but has no plans on expanding the game or releasing downloadable content, though he does not rule out revisiting the Arkostoka setting in a future title. While creator Lucas Pope has remained involved with distributing and supporting the indie game Papers over the last several years, he has maintained he does not wish to create a follow-up or sequel.

By March 2014, Indie game developer Lucas Pope stated that he was kinda sick of Papers, Please, as in he wanted to keep focussing on other smaller games that only took months of time to make and publish, and had spent way too much of his own time with that. Developer Lucas Pope also responded to another Twitter user saying a virtual reality version of Papers was not likely, and that these mobile ports took them about eight months to develop, and that the content was the same.
